Back Pain During Pregnancy
Back pain is common during pregnancy, particularly as your body changes and your baby grows. Hormonal changes can also affect the ligaments supporting your back and pelvis.

What Can Help?
Maintain good posture when sitting and standing.
Avoid lifting heavy objects.
Bend your knees when picking something up.
Avoid twisting while lifting or turning.
Wear comfortable, supportive footwear.
Change positions regularly rather than sitting or standing for long periods.
Rest when you need to.
Stay gently active if your healthcare provider has cleared you for exercise.

Can Prenatal Yoga Help?
Gentle prenatal yoga can support mobility, posture, strength and relaxation during pregnancy. Movements should be adapted to your stage of pregnancy and should never increase your pain.

If you have persistent or severe back pain, speak with your doctor or physiotherapist before continuing exercise.

When Should You Seek Medical Advice?
Contact your doctor or maternity team if your back pain is severe or is accompanied by:

Vaginal bleeding
Fever
Pain when urinating
Pain under the ribs
Regular contractions or abdominal cramping
Fluid leaking from the vagina
Seek urgent medical attention if you develop loss of feeling in your legs, buttocks or genital area.

Gentle movement, good posture and listening to your body can help you stay more comfortable as your pregnancy progresses. 🤍
