Constipation During Pregnancy
Constipation During Pregnancy
Constipation is common during pregnancy. Hormonal changes can slow digestion, and as pregnancy progresses, the growing uterus can also contribute to the problem.
What Can Help?
Eat plenty of fibre from fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans and lentils.
Drink plenty of water and other fluids.
Stay physically active if your healthcare provider has cleared you for exercise.
Don't ignore the urge to use the toilet.
Give yourself enough time and avoid straining.
If you take iron supplements and constipation becomes a problem, speak with your doctor or midwife before making any changes.
Can Prenatal Yoga Help?
Gentle prenatal yoga and regular movement can support overall mobility and may help keep your digestive system active. Choose comfortable movements and avoid anything that causes pain or discomfort.
If diet, fluids and movement are not helping, speak with your doctor or midwife. They can recommend a pregnancy-safe treatment if needed.
Small daily habits can make constipation much easier to manage during pregnancy. 🤍
