Heartburn During Pregnancy
Heartburn and indigestion are common during pregnancy. Hormonal changes and the growing baby putting pressure on the stomach can contribute to symptoms such as a burning feeling in the chest, bloating, burping or bringing food back up.

What Can Help?
Eat smaller meals more often.
Avoid eating within 3 hours of going to bed.
Sit upright while eating and after meals.
Notice and limit foods that trigger your symptoms, particularly rich, spicy or fatty foods.
Raise your head and shoulders slightly while sleeping.
Avoid alcohol and smoking.

Can Prenatal Yoga Help?
Gentle prenatal yoga can support comfortable movement, posture, relaxation and breathing during pregnancy.

Avoid practising immediately after eating, and choose positions that feel comfortable. Your practice should be adapted as your pregnancy progresses.

When Should You Speak to Your Doctor?
If heartburn is severe, persistent or affecting your daily life, speak with your doctor or midwife. They can recommend treatments that are appropriate during pregnancy. Do not take medicines for heartburn without checking that they are suitable for pregnancy.

Small changes in your eating habits and daily routine can often make heartburn much easier to manage. 🤍
